Who writes the guides

Every Tips & Fixes guide is written by Ankit Kumar, co-founder of My Technician, who also builds our Windows utility apps. The byline and author card on each guide link to his profile so you can see who is behind the advice.

How guides are tested

Guides are written the way we actually troubleshoot: real Windows menus, in the order we would use them at the bench, and tested on real machines rather than described from documentation alone. Where a guide shows a Tested on line under its title, that names the Windows build the steps were last re-run on.

How fixes are ordered

Steps run least-invasive first, so you can stop as soon as the problem is solved. Any step that can affect your files or settings is flagged with what it changes, and tells you to back up or create a restore point first. Most guides also include a What Not to Dosection listing common “fixes” that waste time or make the problem worse.

Built-in tools first

Every guide can be followed using tools that ship with Windows. No download is required to complete a fix.

Our apps and how they appear in guides

My Technician sells Windows utility apps on the Microsoft Store, and this website is how we promote them. Some guides show a Recommended App box for a related app. That box is advertising for our own product: it is always optional, it never replaces the built-in steps in the guide, and the guide works the same whether or not you use it. The site also carries Google AdSense ads, which we do not choose individually.

Updates and dates

Guides are reviewed and updated to match current Windows 11 builds. Each guide shows the date it was first published and, once it has been meaningfully revised, an Updated date. We only change that date for real content changes (new steps, corrected instructions, changed menus), not for typo fixes or added links.

Corrections

If a step is wrong, out of date, or did not work on your PC, email contact@mytechnician.tech with the guide's address and your Windows version. Confirmed errors are corrected in the guide and its Updated date is changed.
