Display & Audio guides
Fix what you see and hear: undetected monitors, flickering screens, silent speakers, crackling sound, and microphone problems.
Where to begin
Begin with the physical checks: the cable is fully seated, the monitor is on the right input, and the correct output is selected in the sound menu on the taskbar. Many no-signal and no-sound problems end here.
Next, find out whether the fault follows the hardware. Try another cable, port, or pair of headphones. If the problem moves with the device, replace it. If it stays with the PC, look at drivers, and roll back the latest one if the trouble began right after an update.
For a flickering screen, open Task Manager. If it flickers along with everything else, suspect the display driver. If it stays steady, suspect an app.
